About this worksheet
In the 3 times table the digits of each answer add up to 3, 6, or 9 (for 3 × 7 = 21, 2 + 1 = 3). The ones digits run 3, 6, 9, 2, 5, 8, 1, 4, 7, 0 before repeating.
Skip counting by threes is the usual way in. Facts past 3 × 5 can be built from ones already known: 3 × 6 is 3 × 5 plus one more 3.

Questions
- Is there a trick for the 3 times table?
- Add the digits of the answer: they always make 3, 6, or 9. It is a quick way to check, though not to find, an answer.
- Why are the 3 times table problems in random order?
- In order, children can skip count to each answer. Mixed order checks that each fact is actually remembered.
- Are these 3 times table worksheets free?
- Yes. The sample sheet on this page, with its answer key, is a free PDF in US Letter or A4, no account needed. Generating and previewing new problems is free too; printing and downloading custom sheets come with Pro, which also removes the preview watermark.
