About this worksheet
Subtraction within 10 is the partner of addition within 10, and the two are best learned together: if 6 + 4 = 10, then 10 − 4 = 6. The first number on every problem is 10 or less, and the number taken away is never larger, so there are no negative answers.
Taking away counters or crossing out pictures helps at first. Counting back works for small numbers; for larger ones, thinking of the matching addition fact is faster.
