About this worksheet
Lowercase b starts with an undercurve that sweeps up into a tall loop touching the top line. Bring a slant line straight down to the baseline, swing an undercurve back up to the midline, and finish with a small checkstroke to the right. Uppercase B usually starts at the top line with a slant down, a retrace up, and two forward curves, split by a small loop at the midline, that end at the baseline.
Lowercase b ends high at the midline, so the next letter is reached with a bridge stroke rather than an undercurve from the baseline. Joins like be and br are tricky: the bridge must dip slightly before the e loop or the r shoulder. Programs differ on uppercase B; many do not join it to the next letter.

- Why does cursive b keep turning into an l?
- The checkstroke at the end is the only thing that separates b from l. Have your child pause at the midline after the undercurve and add the small curve to the right before moving on.
- How do I help with the join between b and e?
- Practice the pair on its own: after the checkstroke, slide a short bridge to the right, dip down a little, then loop up into the e. Writing words like bed and bee repeatedly builds the motion.
