About this worksheet
Lowercase h starts with an undercurve into a tall loop at the top line, then a slant line back to the baseline. From there, make an overcurve hump up to the midline, slant down to the baseline, and finish with an undercurve. Uppercase H is usually two strokes: a curve forward and slant line for the left side, then a second stem from the top line that loops across the middle and ends with a curve to the right.
Lowercase h ends with a baseline undercurve, so it joins neatly into the next letter, as in the common pairs th and sh. Keep the hump rounded so the join does not look like an extra letter. Uppercase H joins in many programs through the curve at the end of its second stroke.

Loop letters (e, l, h, k, f, b)
Cursive h is usually taught alongside the other letters in its stroke family, so practicing them together reinforces the shared starting stroke.
- 02
Join h in real words
Words like hat, horse, house practice the joins into and out of h, which is what cursive is for.

Questions
- Why does my child confuse cursive h and k?
- Both start with the same tall loop. After the stem, h makes a plain hump, while k adds a small loop or tuck at the midline before slanting down.
- Is the hump in cursive h an overcurve?
- Yes. After the slant line, the stroke rises in an overcurve to the midline, just like the start of n. Practicing n first can make h easier.
- Are the cursive letter H worksheets free?
- Yes. The sample sheet on this page is a free PDF in US Letter or A4, no account needed. Creating and previewing your own version is free too; printing and downloading custom sheets come with Pro, which also removes the preview watermark.
