About this worksheet

Lowercase k starts with an undercurve into a tall loop at the top line and a slant line down to the baseline. Then make an overcurve up to the midline, curve forward into a small loop or tuck, slant down to the baseline, and finish with an undercurve. Uppercase K is usually two strokes: a curve forward and slant line, then a second stroke from the top line that curves in to the middle and kicks out to an undercurve.

Lowercase k ends with an undercurve at the baseline and joins directly into the next letter, as in kite. Keep the middle tuck small so it does not crowd the next letter. Uppercase K usually connects to the letter that follows.

  1. 01

    Loop letters (e, l, h, k, f, b)

Cursive k is usually taught alongside the other letters in its stroke family, so practicing them together reinforces the shared starting stroke.

  2. 02

    Join k in real words

Words like kite, king, kitten practice the joins into and out of k, which is what cursive is for.

  3. 03

    Traditional US cursive

Set in a traditional cursive style on three-line guides, on Letter or A4 paper. Switch fonts or guides in the editor.

Questions

What makes cursive k different from h?
Both share the tall loop and the overcurve from the stem. Cursive k adds a small loop or tuck at the midline before slanting down, where h just slants down.
Do all programs write the middle of cursive k the same way?
No. Some draw a small closed loop at the midline and others use a simple tuck. Either is fine as long as it stays consistent.
Are the cursive letter K worksheets free?
Yes. The sample sheet on this page is a free PDF in US Letter or A4, no account needed. Creating and previewing your own version is free too; printing and downloading custom sheets come with Pro, which also removes the preview watermark.
