About this worksheet

Lowercase w begins with an undercurve to the midline and a slant line down. Make a second undercurve and slant line, then a third undercurve up to the midline, and end with a small checkstroke. Uppercase W starts with a curve forward at the top line, slants down, undercurves up, slants down again, and finishes with an undercurve that reaches the top line.

Lowercase w ends at the midline with a checkstroke, so the next letter connects with a bridge; wh and wo are common and need care. Uppercase W ends high and usually does not join.

  1. 01

    Undercurve letters (i, t, u, w, r, s, p, j)

Cursive w is usually taught alongside the other letters in its stroke family, so practicing them together reinforces the shared starting stroke.

  2. 02

    Join w in real words

Words like water, wagon, web practice the joins into and out of w, which is what cursive is for.

  3. 03

    Traditional US cursive

Set in a traditional cursive style on three-line guides, on Letter or A4 paper. Switch fonts or guides in the editor.

After the checkstroke, make a short bridge with a dip before looping into e. Practice we and wet slowly.
Are the cursive letter W worksheets free?
