About this worksheet
Two starts just below the top line on the left. Curve up and over to the right like the top of a candy cane, slant down to the bottom left corner, then stop and pull a straight line along the baseline to the right. The flat base is what makes a 2 clearly a 2 and not a Z with a curve.
Two is one of the numerals children most often reverse, writing it facing left. Tracing a full row of correctly oriented 2s gives the hand the right movement before writing from memory. If reversals continue, point out that 2 starts by curving toward the right, the same direction we read.

- Why does my child write 2 backwards?
- Number reversals are a normal part of learning to write, especially for 2, 3, 5, 7, and 9, and are common up to about age seven. Consistent tracing with the correct start point helps; the guide on fixing reversals has more ideas.
- Is the bottom of 2 straight or curly?
- In most school print styles the bottom of 2 is a straight line along the baseline. A curly loop at the bottom is a decorative style and is best left until the plain form is automatic.
