About this worksheet
Six is one continuous stroke. Start at the top line, a little right of center, and curve down and to the left all the way to the baseline. Keep going around and up into the lower half to close a small loop that touches the long curve. The loop sits below the midline; a loop that is too high starts to look like a zero.
Six and nine are mirror and upside-down partners, so mix-ups are common. Tracing reinforces that 6 starts at the top and ends with the loop at the bottom. A simple cue: “a 6 has its belly down low.” Writing the word “six” afterward gives a short, easy word with the less common letter x.

Questions
- How can my child tell 6 and 9 apart?
- Point out where the round part sits: a 6 has its loop at the bottom, a 9 has its loop at the top. Starting point helps too, since 6 begins with a long curve from the top and 9 begins with the small loop.
- Is 6 written in one stroke?
- Yes. Start at the top, curve down and around, and close the loop without lifting the pencil.
- Are the number 6 tracing worksheets free?
- Yes. The sample sheet on this page is a free PDF in US Letter or A4, no account needed. Creating and previewing your own version is free too; printing and downloading custom sheets come with Pro, which also removes the preview watermark.
